A Leader in Me School

 Leader in Me

Saint Patrick School is proud to be a Leader in Me school.

Our staff, students, and families believe that leadership is for everyone. The Leader in Me process is based on the work of Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The Leader in Me is an elementary version of this work.

7 HabitsAs described on the website, The Leader in Me is an ongoing process that “teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students, and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader.’

Throughout the school, we teach and support the 7 Habits.

The habits are:
1. Be Proactive – I am in charge of me.
2. Begin with the end in mind – Have a plan.
3. Put first things first – Work first, then play.
4. Think win-win – Everyone can win.
5. Seek first to understand, then be understood – Listen before you speak.
6. Synergize – Together is better.
7. Sharpen the saw – Balance is best.

7 Habits of Successful Families

Blue Ribbon School
Saint Patrick School was identified in 2007 as a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. Only 50 private schools, nationally, are selected every year. Our selection reflects the commitment of our students and their families; our faculty and staff; and the support of the entire parish. Of more than 138,000 schools in the United States, just over 6,000 have received this honor over the past 28 years.

The U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools that are either high performing or have improved student achievement to high levels, especially among disadvantaged students. The program is part of a larger Department of Education effort to identify and disseminate knowledge about best school leadership and teaching practices.
