Saint Patrick School partners with the Capital Area Intermediate Unit (CAIU), designed to provide support services tailored to meet the needs of students facing challenges in reading, math, and emotional well-being.
What is the CAIU? The Capital Area Intermediate Unit (CAIU) is a regional educational service agency that works with schools to enhance learning opportunities for students across Central Pennsylvania. Through specialized programs and resources, the CAIU strives to promote academic success and emotional wellness.
How can the CAIU help my child? The CAIU offers a range of services, including individualized instruction, assessment, and therapeutic interventions, designed to help students overcome academic and emotional challenges. Whether your child requires targeted interventions to improve literacy and/or math skills or support to manage emotional difficulties, the CAIU provides resources and expertise to promote growth and success.
How do I secure these services for my child? Securing CAIU services for your child is a collaborative process between school personnel, parents, and CAIU specialists. To initiate the process, parents can reach out to Lindsey Waters, School Counselor at (717) 249-4826 ext. 138 or [email protected], to discuss concerns and explore available support options.
Who is eligible to receive CAIU services? CAIU services are available to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade who may benefit from additional support in areas such as reading, math, and emotional regulation.
What services are available for PreK 3 & PreK 4 students at Saint Patrick School? While Saint Patrick School does not offer CAIU services for PreK 3 and PreK 4 students, parents can coordinate directly with the CAIU to determine and arrange necessary services. We support parents by facilitating space within our school for CAIU specialists to work with students at agreed-upon times, ensuring a collaborative approach to meeting each child's needs.
We are transferring to SPS, how do we transfer our child's services? Transferring your child's services to Saint Patrick School involves coordination between the current school, receiving school, and the CAIU. Parents should notify both schools of their intention to transfer and request that the current school share relevant documentation, including Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or 504 Plans, with Saint Patrick School. The school's administration will collaborate with the CAIU to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of services for your child.
