Integrated Language Arts (ILA) purposefully combine the study of literature, grammar, writing, speaking, spelling, and listening skills. Reading classical literature and contemporary authors helps students find their voice, relate grammar skills, and improve their writing skills. Students delve into the excitement of fiction and non-fiction texts by using a variety of hands-on materials and creating projects that show knowledge of the subject matter. Students can put their knowledge to practical use by competing in multiple writing competitions, especially Scholastic Writing, Diocesan spelling bees, and speech competitions.
