The Month of the Military Child | April is designated as the Month of the Military Child, underscoring the important role military children play in the armed forces community. Sponsored by the Department of Defense Military Community and Family Policy, the Month of the Military Child is a time to applaud military families and their children for their daily sacrifices and the challenges they overcome.* Saint Patrick School plans special events to honor and recognize military children.* We have a special recognition of military families after Mass and a social gathering afterward.
Veterans Day Program | Every November, Saint Patrick School hosts a Veterans Day program that is open to the public and is well attended with a social reception afterward. Usually, some of our active duty and veteran soldiers come to speak to the middle school homerooms about their time in service.
AMVET Americanism Program | All students at Saint Patrick School have the opportunity to participate in this contest each year. The organization offers school and youth organizations as a resource for teaching children in kindergarten through 12th grade about American heritage, civics, and citizenship. The program includes flag drawing, poster, and essay contests that are grade-specific.*
VFW Patriot's Pen | Middle school students participate in the VFW "Patriot's Pen" each year. The essay contest encourages young minds to examine America’s history and experiences in modern American society by drafting a 300- to 400-word essay, expressing their views based on a patriotic theme chosen by the VFW Commander-in-Chief. The 2023-24 theme is: "How Are You Inspired by America?"*
