In a compelling study conducted by Learning.com spanning from 2012 to 2017, a startling discovery emerged: 75% of fifth and eighth graders lacked technology literacy. This finding underscores a critical issue that has far-reaching implications for students who will inevitably need to harness technology and advanced skill sets in their future careers. Enter STEAM education, a dynamic approach that propels students into a realm where they seamlessly incorporate elements of technology, computer programming, and engineering into their classwork and projects.
We're renowned at Saint Patrick School (SPS) for our commitment to academic excellence. However, our vision extends even further. Moreover, Principal Antoinette Oliverio, who has led our school since 2017, had a strong vision for broadening our ability to provide enriched STEAM experiences to our students. The new STEAM Wing is realizing this vision, providing middle and elementary school students with an incredible space for hands-on learning experiences to empower them to thrive in an ever-evolving world.
The STEAM Wing is on track for occupancy in January 2024.
"It is very exciting that Saint Patrick School will be a leader of STEAM in our community. We can combine old traditions with modern ideas and create a learning atmosphere like no other facility. Our students can take their learning experience from Saint Patrick School today and make an incredible difference in the world tomorrow."
- Principal Antoinette Oliverio, former middle school language arts teacher, mother of five SPS graduates
"I am so excited about this project, and that may be because of the science and tech geek in me. Our students will broaden their minds so much by seeing the use of science, technology, engineering, and math in all of their subjects, as these rooms will be open for all teachers to use. We can combine old traditions with modern ideas and create a learning atmosphere like no other learning facility in the area."
