At Saint Patrick School, our commitment to academic excellence is reflected in our personalized instructional approach through WIN Time (What I Need Time). We believe in the power of tailored education to meet each student's distinct requirements.
What is WIN Time?
WIN Time is a powerful initiative to support your child's academic growth, specifically in Reading and Math from Kindergarten through 5th grade. With WIN time, a teacher might look at recent quiz results and notice a trend of students struggling with the concept. That teacher could pull that group of students together and re-teach the concept to ensure the students understand.
Reading and Mathematics Mastery: Students facing challenges are strategically grouped to receive specialized support in mathematics and/or reading. These groups emphasize reinforcement and effectively closing knowledge gaps. Meanwhile, students excelling in math and/or reading are grouped to enhance their skills further.
Supplementary Support: We recognize that some students require supplementary services like speech, occupational therapy, and counseling to support their academic journey effectively, which includes developing strategies and techniques to enhance student learning and providing them with the necessary support to thrive academically.
Why WIN Time?
We've seen outstanding results with WIN Time, and here's why it's so effective:
Minimal Disruption: It allows for personalized instruction with minimal interruption to your child's regular school day.
How does WIN Time work?
The mechanics of WIN Time is vital for a comprehensive understanding of its functioning:
Grouping: Initially, students are thoughtfully organized into different groups. This arrangement is based on their performance in STAR Testing and classroom assessments. These groups include below grade level, grade level, above grade level, remedial support, and supplemental services.
Guided Learning: During WIN Time, students participate in daily 50-minute sessions led by dedicated Teachers, WIN Time Volunteers, and Learning Specialists.
Adaptability: The system is characterized by its flexibility. Groups are not fixed; they adapt to students' evolving needs and progress throughout the academic year. This adaptability ensures that each student's educational journey is finely tuned to their unique requirements.
When and Where is WIN Time?
Here are the key details:
Timing: WIN Time is conducted during regular school hours.
Location: WIN Time sessions are typically held in the classroom, library, outside the student's classroom in the hallway, or in the dedicated resource room.
Schedule: Please contact their teacher for your child's personalized WIN Time schedule.
Together, we're committed to providing your child with the tools and support they need to succeed academically.
